We offer a vast range of services and all our training lessons and courses are tailored to meet your individual needs and experience.
HGV 1 / LGV C+E
Drawbar & Articulated Trucks up to 44 tonnes
- An Articulated Large Goods Vehicle is also known as Cat C+E, Class 1 or Artic
- You will need to have a medical so you can apply to the DVSA to add the provisional entitlement on your licence.
- You need to complete two theory tests - a multiple choice and a hazard perception
- CPC Theory Test and CPC Demonstration Test
- Sit practical tests
- A law change in November 2021 means you can now train and pass your practical test in a Category C+E (Class 1) vehicle without having to pass your Category C (Class 2) test first. This is called a Direct Access Course and if you pass the Category C+E test you will by default gain the Category C licence too.
- If you do decide to train and test for your Category C licence first, either you or the DVSA examiner will post your licence along with a copy of your pass certificate to the DVSA. When your licence is returned to you, the provisional entitlement for the C+E (CE) will automatically be show online. You do not have to sit another theory test for the C+E.
HGV 2 / LGV C
Regid Trucks up to 32 tonnes
- A Rigid Large Goods Vehicle is also known as Class 2 or Rigid over 7.5 tonne.
- You will need to have a medical so you can apply to the DVSA to add the provisional entitlement on your licence.
- You will then need to complete two theory tests - a multiple choice and a hazard perception
- CPC Theory Test and CPC Demonstration Test
- Sit practical tests
- Once you have obtained your Cat C licence you will automatically receive your Cat C+E provisional licence (Class 1 / Artic).
LGV C1 7.5 Tonnes
Over 3.5t up to 7.5t for Horse Box or Ambulance Training
- You will need to have a medical so you can apply to the DVSA to add the provisional entitlement on your licence.
- You need to complete two theory tests - a multiple choice and a hazard perception
- CPC Theory Test and CPC Demonstration test
- Sit practical test
- Once you have obtained your CAT C1 licence you will automatically receive your Cat C1+E provisional licence

How long will my training take?
We will carry out an assessment and that will determine your bespoke training package. The end-to-end training processes normally takes up to 6 weeks.
What is the difference between Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) and Large Goods Vehicle (LGV)?
Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) and Large Goods Vehicle (LGV) is the same licence.
Category C1 you can drive vehicles between 3,500 and 7,500kg with a trailer up to 750kg.
Category C1E you can drive a C1 category vehicle with a trailer over 750kg. Combined MAM of both cannot exceed 12,000kg.
Category C you cand drive vehicles over 3,500kg with a trailer up to 750kg.
Category CE you can drive vehicles with a trailer up to 750kg.
